t’s that time of week again, when I give you top picks of what is going on at the weekend. This week the headline event has got to be the We Stand Together event at the Riverfront hosted by Gwent Police. We also have our first Christmas Fayre of the year to look forward to.

We Stand Together
When: 21st October @ 12 noon – 5pm
Where: The Riverfront Theatre
Price: Free entry
This event is being hosted by Gwent Police as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week. There is due to be a host of fun activities for all the family available on the day. There will be a cultural café, showcases from a range of Gwent acts and much more.
There will also be a performance of ‘Just a Bit of Banter’ by Reality Theatre. This is billed as a hard hitting and brutally honest play exploring the impact of everyday hate crime. This performance is not suitable for under 14s and contains bad language and violence that some may find upsetting.

Family raves are becoming popular and now they are finally coming to Newport. This event gives children and their grown-ups the chance to hit the dance floor together for an ultimate fun afternoon away from the stresses of being a grown up.
Guided Wildlife Walk
When: 21st October @ 8am – 10:30am
Where: Fourteen Locks Canal Centre (meet at car park)
As part of Fourteen Locks’ monthly walks programme, this Saturday there will be a two-mile guided walk with Ian Walker from Gwent Ornithological Society. Make the most of the quiet of a Saturday morning as Ian guides you on a search for local wildlife and birds.
Car Boot Sale
When: 22nd October @ 10am – 12 noon
Where: High Cross Primary
The perfect event if you like to find a bargain, or want to have a clear out before Christmas. There is a £5 fee for sellers, who can to enter the site to set up from 9am. Site open to buyers from 10am.

St Mellons Hotel & Spa are hosting a Wedding Fair on Sunday, which is a great opportunity to meet wedding suppliers from across South Wales and get inspiration for the big day. This event is free to attend and all brides get a FREE goody bag.
